bullet What keeps you awake at night?
bullet Does it feel impossible at times to shake off those worries?
bullet Are you frequently concerned about something that hasn't yet happened?

Mark Twain gives a wonderful tongue-in-cheek description of anxiety - "My life has been full of the most terrible things, all of which never happened!"

If you're unable to stay in the moment, frequently finding yourself thinking or worrying about a future event, replaying some past situation or obsessing over something you can't impact, or change, you may be experiencing some anxiety. Although it is no substitute for an in-person meeting with a trained professional, the following test may give you some indication if you have this tendency.

Anxiety Test

The presence of anxiety may be genetically inherited - do you recognize this trait in either of your parents? This state often feels disturbing - worrying may be familiar, but uncomfortable. Being constantly on edge, or fretting over something you can't change is exhausting, agitating!

Ironically, the total absence of any anxiety isn't desirable either. We're programmed to experience 'fight or flight'
reactions for survival. But if you recognize that you more often feel like a car that continues to 'idle', or stay revved up (can't
quieten your mind), over-production of the stress hormone, may be involved.

There are some tried and tested ways to cope with anxiety, or excessive worrying. If you would like to feel some relief, more relaxed, there are numerous ways to contain this emotional state that I could happily share with you! Contact me with any questions you might have.
